Our story
Built for the things we love
World Gallivant started because we couldn't find what we needed. So we built it ourselves.
The short version
We're Ashlynn and Josh — two people preparing to live full-time on a sailing catamaran. When we started planning life aboard, we realised there was nothing that tied it all together. Recipe apps that didn't know what was in the galley. Inventory trackers that didn't talk to meal planners. Photo libraries that didn't understand voyages. Maintenance logs in spreadsheets.
So we started building what we wanted — a single platform where everything aboard works together. Ashlynn designs and codes it. Josh builds the backend. We dream it up together, test it on our own boat, and iterate until it feels right.
Along the way, we started building other things too — tools for hobbies we care about, things we wished existed. Same philosophy: your data stays with you, you buy it once, and it just works.
Why your data stays with you
When you're anchored in a remote bay with no cell signal, cloud software is just a loading screen. We built the vessel platform to run entirely on your boat — a small server in your nav station, your phone on your Wi-Fi. Everything works whether you're docked in a marina or mid-ocean.
That same thinking carries over to everything we build. Your recipes, your photos, your cross-stitch patterns — that's your stuff. We don't think it should live on someone else's server, be mined for insights, or disappear when a company shuts down. Local-first means your data is yours, full stop.

No accounts, no telemetry, no analytics. Your data stays on your hardware because that's how we built it — not because of a policy.

Josh
Backend and infrastructure
Builds the APIs, manages the databases, and keeps the servers running. The plumbing behind the platform.
